Choosing laminated flooring for your home or office means that you can pick from a wide range of different patterns. Real wood flooring is limited to just one look – wood. Laminate flooring, on the other hand, can have almost any look, limited only by your imagination and budget. After all, it’s just a picture printed on fibreboard, and it’s fairly easy to get a photo of practically any material, including exotic ones.

Of course, wood effect floors are very popular – but many people choose interesting colours, like blue or black. It’s also possible to have a floor printed with one big picture – something that wouldn’t happen in nature.

Stone is the next most popular pattern after wood. Stone-patterned flooring can give your home a terrific
old castle feel, and it can be quite convincing if the printing is well done, and if it’s installed correctly. Of course, the surface of the floor won’t be uneven, like real stone, but you might see that as an advantage. Unlike real stone, laminate flooring doesn’t get really cold in the winter.

Another pattern option is the ceramic tile look. This can work really well in bathrooms or kitchens, provided that the flooring is fitted with a damp-proof membrane. Laminate flooring reduces the danger of slipping when the floor is wet, and avoids the tendency tiles have of collecting dirt in the cracks between them.

There are dozens of designs which are even more unusual than those listed here. It’s best if you pop in to Smart Floors, where you can see a range of products from the realistic to the crazy. There really are no limits on what your new floor could look like.
